Unveiling Your Positive Traits: A Path to Self-Discovery

To assist you in recognizing your positive traits, ask yourself questions and engage in exercises that foster self-awareness. Remember, this is a journey of personal growth, so take it one step at a time.

The Power of Detachment

Well, I have never met you and don’t know you, so it is not possible for me to answer your question. But it should be possible for you to understand your own good points yourself. Try the following exercise:

To know yourself, play the role of a detached witness and observe your actions, thoughts, feelings, and so on, without judging yourself. Associate yourself with the idea of Jesus, who said, “Judge not that you be not judged.” He was referring to our habit of judging others but we can start by not judging ourselves.

So observe yourself without judgment and describe your actions or feelings, thoughts or so on, with the bare minimum of words. We are not seeking to explain our behavior or justify anything. We are simply seeking to describe, accept, and know that which is the reality of the moment. Buddhist methods of practicing mindfulness may be useful. If you like, you can go through the book Transformation and Healing by Thich Nhat Hanh to help you with this quest. Practicing these mindfulness methods is advisable but certainly not essential.

The important thing is to describe, accept, and get to know ourselves as we are at this point in time. For example, you may have a short fuse and get angry easily. This can be exploited by others who wish to manipulate you. But if you are aware of this weakness, you then have the ability to safeguard yourself and not be manipulated.

Similarly, you can observe your enemy or adversary in a detached manner and know their strengths and weaknesses. Simply observe and describe without judgment and in a detached manner using the minimum number of words.

Your Positive Qualities: A Nutrient-Infused Apple

Your positive qualities are astounding. Imagine you are an apple chock full of nutrients. And those nutrients are positive qualities. What you put in you, and what you know the earth is which is that apple, also chock full of good which is positive things. Just correlate...

There are two kinds of qualities you need to ponder: characteristic qualities and materialistic qualities.

Characteristic Qualities

Look at your characteristic qualities: How well can you handle tough situations? Do you have an empathetic nature? Do you overthink, which deteriorates your mental health? Or how patient are you? Mull over these facts and compare your reaction with others in the same situation.

You might think, “Why are they crying over such silly things? What if her crush rejected her? I would never cry for someone like this.” I would like to confirm this as your quality.

Personally speaking, worrying unnecessarily about incidents that already happened in the past is a waste of time. I won’t waste time like this, so I count it as my plus point; a quality. You might also get random compliments that enable you to realize a quality of yours that you never knew you had. For instance, someone might say, “Wow, you are so disciplined and punctual! No matter how hard I try, I can never wake up and reach college on time.” Or something like, “You are lucky to have great self-control. I always end up eating junk even though I try not to!” You hear statements like this and you automatically know that managing time and controlling impulses are your qualities.

Materialistic Qualities

For materialistic qualities, like what things you are good at, which field do you excel in? You need to try out every other thing that comes to your mind. Explore, get inspired, and establish. You can try painting, singing, writing, dancing, or you name it. Then, share it with friends or post it on the Internet for feedback. Positive or negative, accept it humbly.

Next, observe how the thing you picked up makes you feel. Feelings can’t match words or anything. If you enjoy it, you are bound to become good at it. If you are good at it, you’ll become passionate about it.

Hope it helps. Feel free to give feedback.
