Understanding the Process of Cancelling a Seat in JoSAA
The process of cancelling your assigned seat in JoSAA (Joint Services Entrance Examination Academic Appearances) is straightforward, but it requires attentive steps to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience. Whether you are participating in CSAB-2018 or maintaining your JoSAA seat, this article will guide you through the necessary procedures.
Withdrawal Methods for JoSAA and CSAB
As the JoSAA counselling and admission procedures are now concluded, if you wish to withdraw your JoSAA seat, you have multiple options. Here are the key methods to consider:
Rejecting JoSAA Seat: Simply do not register for CSAB. Your JoSAA seat will be cancelled, and the seat acceptance fee will be refunded. Maintaining JoSAA Seat: Register for CSAB and do not fill any additional choices. Your JoSAA seat will remain intact.Withdrawal Steps
To officially withdraw your seat, you must follow a specific process as outlined by JoSAA. Here’s a detailed guide for candidates:
Step 1: Register on JoSAA Portal
Go to the JoSAA portal and proceed with the following steps:
Fill in the required Bank Account details to which the seat acceptance fee will be refunded. Upload an image of the cancelled cheque of the same account in the JPG format. Ensure the image is clear and legible. Download the withdrawal request letter.Step 2: Sign and Report
Both the candidate and their parent must sign the withdrawal request letter. You must report to a designated reporting centre to complete the withdrawal process. It is crucial to do this as only those who complete both these steps are considered to have exercised the withdrawal option.
Further Considerations
Candidates who have completed the first step but not the second step will not be treated as having withdrawn. The seats won by such candidates will remain in their names and will not be released for allotment to other candidates.
Business Rules and Documentation
For additional clarity, it’s advisable to go through the business rules of JoSAA. If you visit the official JoSAA website, the necessary guidelines and procedures will be clearly highlighted.
Candidates who are interested in withdrawing their seat are encouraged to act promptly. The deadline for withdrawal is October 15th, so ensure you follow the steps diligently to avoid any delays or complications.
