Understanding Your NEET Score According to the NTA Answer Key: A Comprehensive Guide

So here I am, finally taking a stab at writing my first-ever answer on Quora. I’ve been working towards this goal for the last month, but lacked the necessary courage and motivation. This is my third attempt at NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).

Previous Attempts and Performance

My journey with NEET isn’t new. I took the exam in 2019 and scored 431 marks with a rank of 95414. In 2020, I did better with 575 marks and an All India Rank (AIR) of 32818. As of now, I’m aiming for a better score, one that is expected to reflect my hard work and consistent preparation.

Current NEET Preparation and Results

According to the provisional answer key released on October 15th, this year my NEET score is a satisfying 652, distributed as follows: Physics - 137, Chemistry - 165, and Biology - 350. This score has been a significant milestone in my preparation journey.

The Journey Post-Examination

After the exam, I returned from the examination hall feeling quite confident. I was optimistic about securing a medical seat, although I didn’t have a specific number in mind. The exam was lengthy, and I rushed through the Physics section with only 33 questions answered confidently out of 43 attempted. Despite my confidence, the paper was quite challenging.

To affirm my accomplishment and my parents' contribution, I gave them a heartfelt hug. Growing up in a small town in Rajasthan, such achievements are rare, and the emotional bond with my parents, especially my father, was a highlight of the day.

Initial Assessment and Adjustments

When I first matched my responses with the Allen answer key, I was assured that I had secured a total of 636 marks. However, two Botany questions and one Zoology question were marked incorrectly. Accounting for these, and the one question I left blank in the OMR section that added one mark, my final score was 652.

I always prepare for the worst-case scenario to avoid false hopes. After deducting the negative marks, I landed at 636. Initially, I believed the score was 656, but this was before I fully reviewed my OMR sheet. Upon reviewing the OMR, I realized I had missed a bubble in the Physics section, bringing my score down to 652.

Future Aspirations and Encouragement

While I have hope that the NTA will consider the mismarked questions and allow me to recalculate my score, achieving 656 or even 657 is my goal. I’ll wait for the final result with a mix of hope and patience.

To encourage aspiring NEET candidates and my juniors, I have a few words to share:

Dream big and start small. “Even the man who moved the mountain started with the small stone.” Always dream big, but don't expect to hit the ground running on the first day. Start small and build consistently. Don’t just dream of high scores. Improve incrementally with additional effort each day.

Thank you for sticking with me through this journey, and I hope we will cross paths again in the future.

Ab jao bhi,
Hope we meet again.
