With a JEE Advanced rank of 7k and a Mains rank of 12k, I had several options, but my interest in research and desire to pursue Physics turned the page to a different chapter. Let's delve into the journey that led me to Indian Institute of Technology (IIIT) Vadodara's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program.

The Quest for the Perfect College

After my JEE Advanced result, I was optimistic about securing admission to one of the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER). Unfortunately, my rankings did not align with my choices. I had a strong interest in research and wanted to pursue Physics, so I opted out of the Joint Admission Process for Admission and Counselling for Admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (JOSAA) as my priority was to choose a college where research opportunities were abundant.

Research led me to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, which was recognized as the best college for Physics. I filled out my JOSAA form for IISER Kolkata as my first choice, and much to my surprise and relief, I was offered admission. However, when I visited the campus in Kolkata, I was faced with a challenge: the college was located 50-60 kms away from the airport, with limited transportation. This made me question whether I was making the right choice. I weighed my options and realized that post-IISER, I would either be a professor or a scientist, both of which did not appeal to me. Thus, I decided to withdraw my application and participate in the special round of JOSAA.

While my high JEE Advanced rank did not secure me the desired institution, I decided to continue my search. I filled out the form for IIIT Vadodara’s CSE program and, luckily, was accepted. This decision brought a sense of relief and excitement, as I embarked on a new journey that would define my next phase of life.

What Made IIIT Vadodara Special?

To me, what made IIIT Vadodara special was the experience of living and studying there. The campus life was truly enjoyable. The infrastructure, although modern and equipped, was designed to foster a learning environment that aligns with the latest technologies and research trends. The CSE program provided a robust curriculum that not only covered theoretical concepts but also encouraged practical implementation through several projects and internships.

Furthermore, the faculty at IIIT Vadodara is composed of experienced professionals and academics who are passionate about making a difference in the field of computer science.
