Mathematics has always fascinated me, not just as a tool for solving practical problems, but as a language that describes patterns, structures, and relationships in the world. The elegance and universal applicability of math are what draw me to it. It offers a way to think logically, solve complex problems, and appreciate the inherent order and symmetry in the universe.

Academic Background: From Electrical Engineering to Quantum Mechanics

My fascination with mathematics began in earnest during my undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Texas AM University. Along the way, I delved into significant areas such as physics and mechanical engineering. A particularly impactful course was in Quantum Mechanics, where I began to see the role of mathematics in understanding the physical world.

At the level of vector calculus, I realized that mathematical concepts guided every step in comprehending how the physical world works. For instance, Newton’s laws explained the tides and planetary orbits to a first approximation, while Gauss’s divergence theorem provided insight into the distribution of electrical charges. This sudden interest culminated in obtaining two advanced engineering degrees from Texas AM University. My current profession as a 67-year-old Silicon Valley engineer is a direct reflection of my dedication to mathematics. Over the years, my love for this subject has only grown, not diminished. It is a subject that attracts both admiration and puzzlement, but its inherent value in problem-solving and logical thinking is irrefutable.
