Rediscovery: Finding Success After NEET Exam Failure

Failure in the NEET exam can be a setback, but it doesn't necessarily mean the end. Many individuals find new paths and opportunities that align with their strengths and passions. In this article, we explore the journey of someone who faced such a challenge and how they found their way forward.

After NEET Exam Failure: A New Path

My journey with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was a series of two attempts. Despite my initial aspirations, both attempts did not yield the desired results. After the second attempt, which lacked my full dedication, I was unable to secure a spot in a medical college. Reflecting on my self-coaching method, I might have benefited more from independent study rather than relying on coaching centres that, unfortunately, were subpar.

However, my personal experience led me to a different path that has proven rewarding. I am now a speech language pathologist and audiologist, a profession I am deeply passionate about. This outcome wasn't a planned destination but emerged as a natural evolution of my strengths and interests. Moreover, I believe the experience of not getting into medical college was not a mere down turn. Instead, it served as a redirection towards a more fulfilling path.

Chill Mode and Self-Discovery

Life after such an attempt has brought a sense of calm and stability. Currently, I am in a 'chill mode,' enjoying the moment and not letting any internal or external pressures distract me. In my free time, I indulge in my hobbies, such as playing the guitar and singing. I am a self-taught, amateur guitarist who is still learning online and improving. Soon, I plan to start posting covers on my social media channels once I get a decent phone.

Making music is just one of the many things I am doing to keep myself engaged and motivated. Learning to cook has also become a passion of mine, thanks to YouTube. I can now make various dishes, from pizza sandwiches and burgers to healthier options, adding fun and variety to my daily life.

Reading has been another pursuit I'm trying to maintain. I purchased two books based on my friends' recommendations but find myself struggling to read them daily. However, I am committed to making this a regular habit despite the challenges.

Health and Wellness

While I was initially considering joining a gym, the nearest one is 30km away. So, I have been focusing on exercising at home. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial, even from the comfort of my home. Additionally, I am planning to embark on solo trips, a change from my previous travel plans with friends. The lack of responses from my friends has prompted me to explore solo adventures, which I believe will provide me with a new sense of independence and adventure.

Lessons and Reflections

Failure in the NEET exam was undoubtedly a regrettable experience, especially with the many responsibilities I had. However, it informed me of the importance of commitment and perseverance. For NEET 2025, I am planning to take a partial drop, which will help me balance preparations with other responsibilities more effectively. Partnership with my parents and supportive guidance are essential, but ultimately, the drive and effort from within are vital.

Success is not just about achieving a goal but also about the courage to stand up after falling. Failing isn't terminal; it's a phase of the journey where one learns and grows. True success is achieved when one gathers strength to fight again and when one learns from the experience. Pursuing what you really want is a journey of continuous effort and dedication.
