Overcoming Self-Doubt: From Fear to Success in CBSE Class 12

Many students face moments of self-doubt and fear of failure, especially in challenging subjects like mathematics or science. However, it is not uncommon for students to believe they will struggle in a subject but ultimately perform well. This article sheds light on the journey of a student who overcame initial fears and succeeded in achieving good marks in CBSE Class 12.

A tale of relocation and challenges

Relocating to a new country can be overwhelming, especially during the period of online classes and the ongoing global pandemic. The transition from one environment to another can be particularly challenging, especially during a critical academic phase like Grade 11. Adding to this, the student faced several personal and academic challenges that could have derailed their academic journey.

After completing Grade 10, the student relocated to an entirely new country. The period of online classes amidst the pandemic made the adjustment even more difficult. Grade 11, known for its demanding curriculum, took a significant toll on the student. The unfamiliarity of a new school, a lack of friends, and the challenge of joining classes 5 months late further compounded the difficulties. The stress during this period was overwhelming, leading to periods of depression, though not clinically diagnosed.

Adapting and bouncing back

Thankfully, the transition to Grade 12 brought some relief. Offline classes were finally back, and while the student was still coping with depression, they managed to pass all periodic tests and exams. The academic journey was a mix of average performance and personal setbacks, including a hormonal disease that explained the difficulty in focusing and studying as before. The disease had a significant negative impact on both academic and personal life, leading to unexplained weight gain and fatigue.

With zero confidence regarding passing the Class 12 exams, the student surprised themselves with an 82 score in CBSE science, including a 98 in psychology. While 82 might not seem like a high score to some, it was a remarkable achievement considering all the challenges faced. The student acknowledges the score as a 82% understanding of the syllabus, which they consider to be a good result.

Positive mindset and perseverance

The story highlights the importance of perseverance and a positive mindset. Despite the initial fears and setbacks, the student’s efforts and dedication paid off. Academic success is a testament to the power of resilience and a supportive mindset. Social media and educational forums are filled with similar stories, which can serve as motivation for students facing similar challenges.

For those who are currently struggling with similar doubts, it is crucial to remember that initial fears can be overcome with the right strategies and support. Effective study habits, mentorship, and a positive attitude can make a significant difference. The journey to academic success is not always linear, but it is always rewarding when the effort leads to fulfilling results.
