My Journey to IIT Roorkee: A Step-by-Step Account

Starting my journey from the first day of my 11th standard in 2017, I faced numerous academic challenges that often felt surreal. Understanding the material was a struggle, and my marks reflected that struggle. Despite the difficulties, I managed to secure an aggregate of 80 marks, navigating the minefield of 11th standard education.

The allure of IITs, particularly IIT Roorkee, started to magnetic pull on me from the early days of 11th standard. I KNEW that the questions in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) were primarily from the 11th and 12th class syllabus. However, without personal internet access and a smartphone, my resources were limited. It wasn't until I got a smartphone in my 11th standard that I could start exploring options.

I turned to YouTube for guidance and inspiration, and there I discovered 'Any Time Padhai Academy' channel by Vineet Khatri Sir, who was from IIT Roorkee. This discovery sparked a new era of exploration for me as I delved into details about the campus, the achievements of students, and the institute's innovation.

Deciding on IIT Roorkee

The campus was described as beautiful, with stunning architecture and lush greenery. I was amazed by the achievements of the students, their innovative projects, and the vibrant student life. It was a place I imagined myself as a part of.

Preparation for JEE Mains 2019

As I prepared for the JEE Mains in 2019, it was far more challenging than I had anticipated. Despite my efforts and the guidance from Vineet Khatri Sir, I cleared the exam with poor marks. Initially, I rationalized that my preparation was insufficient, but I still decided to give the JEE Advanced a try. As I feared, I didn't clear the advanced stage.

Despite the setback, I wasn't discouraged. I believed that with a year of additional preparation, I could achieve my goal. Thus, I took a year off and decided to give it another shot in JEE Advanced 2020. In September 2020, I gave it another go, and as fate would have it, I succeeded.
