Miracles and Mastery: My Journey to 91.6 in the CBSE Board 2020
As an average student, the journey to achieving a 91.6 percentage in the CBSE board exam in 2020 feels like a miracle. While it may seem that I required only 60% effort from myself, the miraculous journey involved a 40% contribution from divine intervention or 'God's grace', as I like to call it. This is my personal story of perseverance and dedication, and how it ultimately led me to an excellent academic outcome.
Average to Above Average: My Academic Progress
My mother played a significant role in my early academic success, teaching me until the 5th grade where I received full marks. However, as my brother was born, my parents, especially my mother, had less time to focus on my studies. Despite this, I managed to score 83 in the 6th grade.
The onset of the first academic challenge began with the 6th to 8th grades when schoolwork became more rigorous. Transitioning to middle school brought new challenges, including the introduction of science and math. Although I was addicted to social activities, I still managed to pass most of my exams, except for the first half-yearly and session ending exams. My interest in subjects such as drawing hydrocarbon diagrams kept me motivated in science, but I struggled with math.
Overcoming the Overage 10th Board Exams
Arguably, the 10th board exams represented an overrated and intimidating milestone that I was not at all interested in. However, I still managed to pull through with a 81.6 percentage. I attribute this success partly to the easier questions as compared to the pre-boards, where I expected to score only 70 out of 100. The pre-boards were significantly more challenging, but the boards were a breeze.
In retrospect, the first war was not as daunting as it seemed. Still, despite my own lack of interest, I managed to pass the exams with attributes of hard work and tutoring. A significant factor in my success was the support and strategies provided by Rajat Arora Sir, who consistently motivated and informed students with effective learning pathways.
The Second War and Academic Mastery
The second battle, which involved 11th and 12th grade, came with a more rigorous curriculum and strict teachers. I managed to scrape through with a 75 percentage in 11th grade. My approach to study during these examinations was pragmatic – I only studied when there was a test or an upcoming exam. My performance in accountancy pre-boards was a testament to this strategy, where I barely passed with a 27 out of 80, proving that a slight glimmer of effort could yield results.
The turning point came with the introduction of Rajat Arora Sir's channel. During the long holidays before the board exams, he provided extensive resources and guidance, which significantly boosted my performance. His daily motivational content and consistent advice were instrumental in my preparation. By the time the board exams rolled around, I felt as if a rain had arrived in a hot, dry land. Thank you, Rajat Arora Sir, for making learning engaging and accessible.
Facing the board exams with a sense of ease, I scored a remarkable 92.6 percentage. This success was satisfying, as I knew it was due to a combination of moderate effort from myself and a significant boost from divine guidance. This achievement wasn't just a milestone; it was a reflection of my consistency and the support of those who believed in me.
Lifelong Lessons and Results
Asking 'what does it all matter now?' is a common question among students. For me, it matters in the sense of fulfilling a long-held desire for academic success. Even if you achieve 60 or just 10, the key is to achieve it honestly. The results in the CBSE board exams matter, but they signify a path to further education. While my scores are low by some standards, they are a reminder that hard work, self-reliance, and occasional divine assistance can lead to significant achievements.
