Effective ESE 2018 Prelims Mechanical Exam Strategy: A Personal Journey
Why did I start preparing 1 year in advance for the ESE 2018 Prelicms Mechanical examination? This was my college 4th year, and while I had to manage my regular college classes, I devoted an astounding 23 hours daily to preparation after my classes. My strategy evolved around revising my notes and tackling previous year's questions.
I had a clear plan not to delve into books but to rely on previous year's questions as the cornerstone of my study. However, the unexpected university placement period, with me only managing to secure placement in two companies,Infosys and Wipro, while my classmates successfully placed, was a huge blow to my confidence and preparation. Frustration and self-doubt set in, leading me to question my efforts and capability to compete on a national level. It took me two months to regain my focus and get back to studying, cursing my luck and seemingly less favorable circumstances.
The Turning Point and Preparation Strategy
Realizing that the situation was not improving, I joined the Made Easy test series in April. This decision marked the beginning of my rigorous preparation. In the first test, despite the long break from regular study, I managed to secure a respectable 1500 rank among 2000 candidates. This motivated me to push harder as the examination was merely 40 days away.
My preparation became relentless. I began my day at 7 a.m., dedicating 2 hours to the revision of subject notes. From 9 a.m. to noon, I would solve previous year's objective papers and from 1.15 p.m. to 4 p.m., solve conventional papers. This was followed by a thorough revision of GS papers from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A 45-minute break provided mental respite before diving into the planning of the next day until 11 a.m. Closing my eyes at 11.30 a.m. to recall the day's learning completed my day with careful revision.
A 6-hour sleep was the final segment of my preparation routine, ensuring I was well-rested for the next day's grueling schedule. My entire preparation focused on identifying and addressing weak areas. By the end of this 40-day intense preparation, I managed to crack the ESE 2018 Prelims Mechanical examination on my first attempt with an impressive ranking.
Conclusion
If a seemingly ordinary candidate like me, who faced significant hurdles, could crack the examination, then with the right strategy and last-minute push, every aspirant can achieve their goals. Remember, as a human, you possess the immense potential to achieve whatever you desire. With the right mindset and unwavering preparation, the ESE 2018 Prelims Mechanical exam is waiting for you. Go for it, as you are more capable than you give yourself credit for.
