Cracking the AIIMS Exam in 10 Months: A Comprehensive Guide
Many aspiring medical students often wonder if it's possible to prepare for the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) exam in just 10 months. The answer is a resounding yes, especially when you leverage quality resources and adopt an effective strategy.
Overview of Preparation Plan
Whether you're just starting your journey or seeking ways to optimize your study time, this guide will help you crack the AIIMS exam in as little as 10 months. The key to success is not just studying, but studying wisely. Here's how you can achieve this:
1. Commitment and Sincerity
Your journey to AIIMS starts with a sincere commitment. Half-hearted efforts will not bear fruit. Dedicate yourself to regular and consistent revision.
2. Limited and Standard Reference Books
Avoid overwhelming yourself with too many books. Instead, focus on limited and high-quality reference materials:
Chemistry
NCERT – Most important for theoretical aspects. Other references: OP Tandon, MS Chouhan, Himanshu Pandey, Pradeep’s Chemistry, Morrison and Boyd, SN Sanyal.Note: Focus on NCERT for the majority of your study and use other books for additional concepts.
Biology
NCERT – Start here for a strong foundation. Previous Year Questions – Essential for practice. Additional References: Trueman’s for a little extra.70-80% of your biology preparation should come from NCERT, with 20-30% additional from recommended books.
Physics
SL Arora and HC Verma – Best for theory and numerical problems. Practice directly from MTG Books for NEET-AIIMS preparation. These books are packed with detailed solutions and correct answers. IIT JEE Mains books can also be used for additional practice as many questions are repeated. No need for additional modules. Focus on solving previous year questions multiple times to gain confidence.
3. Guidance from a Guru
A good mentor can make a significant difference. A guru is someone who knows what to do and what not to, acting as the best guide:
Consult a Guru if possible. This can provide personalized guidance and motivation. Choose a Guru who has experience in preparing students for medical exams.Time Management
Time management is crucial:
Target-Based Learning: Study with a specific goal in mind, rather than a strict time limit. Daily Goals: Aim to complete at least 120 questions per day for both PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) combined. Enjoy your breaks and revisit your notes weekly. Mindset: Keep your mindset positive and focused. Overconfidence or over-study can lead to burnout. Balance is key.Additional Tips
Here are some additional tips to keep in mind:
Arise, Awake, and Do Not Fail Till Your Goal is Reached: A mantra from Swami Vivekananda to keep you motivated. Bruce Lee: Emphasizes focusing on a few things and doing them exceptionally well. Sudarshan Kriya: Practice this technique for mental clarity and concentration. Nishita Purohit, an AIIMS rank 1, used it daily.Follow this guide, and you'll be on your way to cracking the AIIMS exam. Best of luck!
