Can Someone Pass the JEE Exam Without Preparation?
It is often questioned whether someone can successfully pass the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) without any preparation. My own experience in taking the JEE despite preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) may shed some light on the matter.
Opting for JEE Despite NEET Preparation
I took the JEE exam primarily with a strong interest in chemistry and physics, as I believe that the question patterns in both exams follow each other somewhat. Additionally, taking the JEE exam before NEET, which is usually conducted 2 to 3 months later, can serve as a confidence booster for the NEET preparation.
Improving Physics and Chemistry Can Boost JEE Scores
While it is possible to do well in physics and chemistry, mathematics poses a significant challenge for JEE students. For a student who has not studied mathematics at all, attempting the JEE exam without preparation would likely result in serious difficulties. However, if you are exceptionally skilled in physics and chemistry, you could skip mathematics in the JEE Main and still achieve a score of 180 out of 300, leading to a percentile around 99!
The Role of NEET Preparation in JEE
Your performance in the JEE exam largely depends on your NEET preparation level. If you score more than 150 out of 180 in both physics and chemistry, you will likely achieve a score of over 90th percentile (and sometimes even 95th) in the JEE Main. However, it is essential to tackle the mathematics section independently. If you are a sincere NEET aspirant and score more than 600 out of 720, you can easily perform well in the JEE Main, as the JEE Main is generally easier than NEET. The time factor is crucial, and the question levels are similar.
Seriously speaking, while there may be some JEE aspirants who argue that the JEE is the most difficult thing in the world and carry on with their rhetoric, the truth is that sincere NEET aspirants who score well in NEET can perform excellently in the JEE Main.
Preparation and Ethical Considerations
It has been reported that in some remote centers, cheating is promoted by teachers themselves. Hence, if we exclude such cases, it is not possible to clear the JEE Main without any preparation. Even if someone manages to pass the exam through cheating, they are likely to face difficulties in college and struggle to understand the subjects. Therefore, preparation is crucial for success in the JEE. Best wishes to all aspiring participants!
