A Journey into Reading: From a Voracious Reader at a Young Age to the Present
Introduction:
Not very long ago, I realized that I had become a voracious reader, a journey that began in my childhood. Reflecting on this path, it's fascinating to see how my reading habits have evolved over time, from my earliest memories to the present.
My love for reading started when I was around 8 or 9 years old. I remember vividly the joy of buying new books at the start of the school year, the delightful smell of the new pages, and the anticipation of diving into charming stories. These early reading experiences were not just enjoyable; they were transformative.
Early Reading Experiences:
My earliest memories involve being captivated by literature. Both Hindi and English literature were my favorite subjects, and books served as my primary source of entertainment and escape. Growing up in an era without smartphones or social media, books were my closest friends. I couldn't wait for the day to start so I could rush to the bookstore and grab a new storybook.
I still remember the stories from my school curriculum, like Dusk, which made me fall in love with the art of storytelling. Comic books were a significant part of my reading life, with series like Champak, Nagraj, Nanhe Samrat, and Tinkle. These comics, with their vibrant stories and illustrations, fueled my imagination and love for reading.
One defining moment in my reading journey was at the age of 12, when I read my first novel, a Nancy Drew mystery. This experience ignited a passion that has continued to this day. I used to read voraciously, losing myself in the endless worlds that books offered.
Developing the Habit:
Over time, my reading habits have grown, extending to a diverse range of genres—from fiction to self-help books. This habit, which I developed unconsciously, has become a fundamental part of my life. It complements my love for writing and has opened up new worlds for me.
Today, I read all sorts of content, from magazines to blog posts, and everything in between. I'm so grateful for this habit that I have cultivated over the years. It has enabled me to explore new ideas, improve my writing skills, and enrich my understanding of various topics.
My Current Read:
Currently, I am reading a book titled Those Magnificent Women and Their Flying Machines: India's Mission to Mars by Minnie Vaid. This book, originally an interview with the author, was published in the prestigious magazine Science Reporter. It is part of my ongoing commitment to exploring diverse subjects and participating in the intellectual dialogue. You can read the full interview here if you're interested.
Conclusion:
The journey from a child who loved reading to a voracious reader has been a continuous process of discovery and growth. As I continue to read and explore new realms of knowledge, I look forward to sharing my insights and experiences with others. Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for reading.
